Chapter 1 Nostalgia
I am writing this message for people who will move here later, although this is unlikely. Now we are in severe decline, but recently my friend and I had a fairly strong, prosperous city, but I think it’s better to start from the very beginning. My adventurer friend and I sailed to one of the many newly discovered islands. Besides us, there were quite a few other “gentlemen of fortune” on the island. When we arrived on the island, our things were stolen, but we were unperturbed and made ourselves simple wooden picks. True, they didn’t last long, only about half an hour, but it didn’t matter, at that time we collected enough stone to continue our work. We collected new pickaxes from stone and continued digging. We soon dug up quite a lot of stone. We didn’t start building a house, we immediately built a castle, only of a small size, but for us it was pretty good. It was already evening, we decided to wait out the night in a cozy, newly rebuilt castle, although it could hardly be called cozy, it was cold and dark inside. I made a stove and a workshop from the resources we had left. That day was extremely successful for us. The next morning we decided to continue developing by digging a huge mine. We distributed the responsibilities like this: my friend is digging a mine, and I collect wood, food, which we have left for no more than a day, and so on. I completed my duties in about two hours. There was a forest around the castle in which there were many pigs and sheep, from which I collected wool and meat, so I killed two birds with one stone. Arriving home, I began to fry the prey in the oven. When my culinary masterpiece was ready, I called my friend to eat. The meat was very tasty. After a hearty lunch, we continued digging the mine, but now it was just the two of us. Half an hour later we found a natural cave, an underground river, the first coal and the first metal. We have quite a lot of coal, we made torches, excavations were much easier with them. After digging a little deeper, we found GOLD. We were very happy. Encouraged by this fact, we began to dig even deeper, and it almost cost me my life, I almost fell into the lava, thank God my friend caught my hand when a stone broke under me, which I accidentally hit with a pickaxe. But there was also something good, we found red dust. We decided to go outside, soon we were already at home, I built beds from wool collected from sheep, placed torches throughout the house, made night lights from 2 levers and torches from red dust. The house was very nice. We dined on the meat that I fried during the day and the bread that we had left. Having filled our stomachs, we went to bed. The next day I got up much earlier than my partner, I made buckets, a shovel, went to the cave and got a bucket of water there, and several buckets of lava. When I got home I started digging a big hole. Lava, depression, yes, yes, you heard correctly, I decided to build a moat with lava. And he was soon ready. Not only did it provide security, it provided light and warmth and a lot of lava, I made a heater in the castle from the lava taken from it. When my friend woke up, we finally had breakfast, this time I sent him to get food, and I went to dig the mine further, I went down to the lava level, there I found the first diamonds, and quite a lot, at least to begin with. I decided to expand the castle, dug up a lot of stone, and built 2 more walls in the city, internal and external, everything that was beyond the internal one was the center of the city, there I placed a dining room, wells and an arsenal, and everything that was behind the outer wall was a residential area. I also made a stone floor in the city. My friend also showed himself and built a passage to the mine in the center of the city and an observation tower. Soon the first people began to settle in our city, everything went like clockwork, after a while quite a lot of people settled in the city. From some of them we even put together a small army. Made several of our residents miners, resource extraction became large-scale. Everything was fine. But nothing lasts forever, after some time an epidemic began on the island, people began to turn into zombies, some even became walking skeletons, in the literal sense of the word. The mines had to be barricaded because.all sorts of evil spirits constantly crawled into them. We owe a lot to our soldiers, without them the city would only be ruins. Besides us, there were several more colonies left, but we were the largest. All large cities were destroyed in the first week of infection, only small houses or castles remained in which people lived, still inexplicably holding on under the onslaught of attacks, in our city there were many people with immunity to the disease, including me and my friend. We still held the defense in the city, but people were dying every night, and our food supplies were running out. This is how we got to where we are now. Personally, I know one thing I need to leave the city. And the faster the better.
Chapter 2 Escape

I notified the city residents that there was only enough food left for two days, and told them the plan to escape from the city. The plan was simple: we take all the food, arm all the people, make rafts from the wood we have left, get to the water and get the hell out of here. I made a compass to know where to go. We planned to go during the day, but unfortunately the plan went to hell, about a dozen exploding monsters, popularly called creepers, broke through our defenses, which we held for about 3 weeks in just half an hour, three people were killed. We quickly collected all the food, armed ourselves and took with us several rafts, each carrying his own. There were 12 of us, breaking through a residential area, which we had to leave at the beginning of the second week of infection, we lost one fighter, he was riddled with arrows by a skeleton. Having left the city completely, we rushed north, as far as I remember, the port was there, along the way we killed several zombies and skeletons, there were no losses. Arriving at the port, we were shocked by what we saw, there were so many evil spirits there: spiders, zombies, skeletons, creepers. There were a lot of them… We were like 300 Spartans, but there were much fewer of us. I almost died in this battle, a zombie knocked me down and was ready to deliver the decisive blow, but then one young officer pushed him away and cut him in half. After this battle there were only 4 people left. Me, my friend with whom we explored this entire island, the young officer who saved me and our engineer. Having put the rafts on the water, we sailed north, on the way we met 1 more person, he was in his house and trying to fight off zombies and creepers, we could not swim past, we fought off his house from the evil spirits, and offered to swim with us, it was stupid to expect that he would refuse, quickly building himself a raft and taking everything valuable, he swam with us. After 2 hours, under heavy fire from skeletons, we left the island. The next morning we were almost out of food, but we finally reached the mainland. Oddly enough, everything was fine on the mainland. We talked about what’s happening on the island. Some believed, some didn’t. But we didn’t care anymore. We were saved and that was the best thing about the last 3 weeks.
Chapter 3 Hard Choices
Soon after our arrival, we were offered to return to this island as part of a scientific group, but we refused; three weeks in this hell were enough for us. In addition, we have collected enough resources on this island to open our own business. We traded everything we could, metal from the island, which is very durable but also easy to process, meat, and other things. Later we learned from the newspapers that the scientific group that we were offered to join was broken up. Only 1 person survived. They studied several cities, including ours, it turns out that the virus came from spiders, and in several cities there were teleports to the unknown world where they came from. We were again offered to join the ranks of researchers, as guides, it was stupid to agree, but it was even stupider to refuse. And we decided to go.
